On November 22, 2025, JD Development Group had the honour of attending the 4th annual Fortune Ball, presented by TD bank and hosted by the Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) Foundation. This premier gala continues to serve as a cornerstone for philanthropic efforts supporting Oak valley Health's Markham Stouffville Hospital.
The Fortune Ball brought together more than 600 guests, including local business leaders, political representatives, and community members, all contributing through charity auctions, donations, and networking. Over the past four years, the event has raised a remarkable $5.2 million, playing a pivotal role in enhancing local healthcare infrastructure and services.
A Celebration of Community and Giving
The 2025 gala highlighted the strength and unity of the Greater Toronto Area's Chinese community in supporting local healthcare. Distinguished attendees included MP Helena Jack, MPP Paul Calandra, Mayor Frank Scarpitti, and Whitchurch-Stouffville Mayor Lain Lovett, all demonstrating their support for the hospital's mission.
As a proud member of the Markham community, JD Development Group joined this charitable gathering to celebrate collective philanthropy and reinforce the importance of investing in the health and wellbeing of local residents.
Co-chair david ho, quoting a chinese proverb, said:
"with giving comes receiving. at some point in life, everyone will need a hospital's help. every contribution we make directly improves emergency equipment and patient care quality."
Supporting Markham Stouffville Hospital: The Need for Advanced Care
Suzette Strong, CEO of the MSH Foundation, emphasized the gala's fundraising goal for the year: upgrading emergency department treatment room equipment. With rapidly growing and aging population, the demand for advanced healthcare resources is greater than ever.
"Without flc and corporate donors, the hospital could not have remained a cornerstone of community health for the past 35 years," Said suzette strong.
These upgrades will ensure the hospital continues to provide efficient, state-of-the-art care while meeting the evolving needs of the Markham community. The Fortune Ball is not just a fundraiser–it is a symbol of collective responsibility and community resilience.
