Ward 8 in Markham came alive this month with its much-anticipated annual Community BBQ Party, bringing together residents, families, and community leaders for a day of celebration, connection, and cultural pride. As a proud sponsor, JD Development Group was honoured to stand alongside Councillor Isa Lee in supporting an event that champions inclusivity and unity.

Autumn BBQ in Cool weather – Markham Residents Loved It!

Despite the crisp September air, the atmosphere was warm and lively. Nearly 1,000 residents joined in to enjoy complimentary food, drinks, snacks, and ice cream. Children delighted in a play zone, face painting, and a petting zoo, while families gathered for an afternoon of laughter and shared experiences.

Cultural performances were a highlight of the day, with local groups presenting songs and traditional dances that celebrated the rich diversity of Markham. Councillor Isa Lee extended a heartfelt welcome, setting the tone for an event centred on community spirit and togetherness.

Community Partners

In addition to JD's leadership team, the event featured booths and demonstrations from Markham Police, Fire Department, and the public library. Residents engaged directly with local representatives, learning about safety resources, community programs, and essential services that help keep the city thriving.

JD: A Home Builder, and a Member of the Community

JD Development Group has proudly made Markham its home base, with its head office located in the city and several development projects contributing to local growth. Most recently, JD Development Group successfully completed the Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) of the Markdale Townhome Project – a sold-out community that first broke ground in 2019.

As a developer, JD Development Group embraces the corporate philosophy of "A better way to live." This vision extends beyond housing to supporting initiatives that promote belonging, safety, and opportunity for all residents.

A Shared Vision for Markham

Councillor Isa Lee has long championed her mission of "serving the community" through her dedication to safety, inclusivity, and diversity. JD Development Group shares this commitment by contributing to Markham's development both through real estate and active community engagement.

Together, we believe that while we may play different roles – as builders, residents, and civic leaders – we are united by a common goal: to make Markham a safer, more inclusive, and more vibrant place to call home.
