Markham, Ontario – Ontario's New Home for IndyCar Racing

On November 6, 2025, JD Development Group had the honour of attending Mayor Frank Scarpitti's Annual Business Address Luncheon in Markham. The event brought together influential leaders from across real estate, technology, education, and finance to discuss the city's evolving role as a hub of innovation and investment.

During his keynote address, Mayor Scarpitti highlighted Markham's continued leadership in artificial intelligence, technology, higher education, and cultural development. He also announced a defining new chapter for the city – the Ontario Honda Dealers IndyCar Grand Prix will officially move to Markham Centre under a multi-year agreement beginning in 2026.

This milestone positions Markham as Ontario's exclusive host city for the world-renowned IndyCar Series, expected to welcome more than 150,000 spectators and generate tens of millions of dollars in economic activity for the region.

A New Home. A New Track. A New Opportunity.

According to the official plans, the new Markham circuit will be located within the eastern precinct of Markham Centre, bordered by Kennedy Road, Enterprise Boulevard, Highway 407, and the Unionville Go station.

The 3.52-kilometer (2.19-mile) circuit will feature 12 turns, a dual-sided pit lane, and high-speed straightways – all designed by world-renowned track architect Tony Cotman of NZR Consulting.

As a city with a proud sporting history and a proven infrastructure from events such as the 2015 Pan Am Games, Markham is uniquely positioned to host an event of this magnitude. The race will not only celebrate engineering and athletic excellence but also reinforce Markham's growing reputation as a world-class destination for innovation and entertainment.
