JD Development group joins meridian charity classic to support abilities centre

JD Development Group was honoured to take part in the Meridian Charity Classic, a golf tournament dedicated to raising support for the Abilities Centre. The event, hosted by Meridian–Canada's largest credit union–brought together community leaders, partners, and industry professionals in a shared effort to promote accessibility, equity, and inclusion.
The Abilities Centre: Creating Opportunities for All
Founded in 2012, the Abilities Centre is an internationally recognized innovation and research hub serving more than 100,000 visitors annually. The Centre provides skill development, employment support, therapeutic sports, recreation, and educational programs that break down barriers and empower people of all abilities to thrive.
Its creation was inspired in the early 2000s by the vision of the late Jim Flaherty, former federal finance minister, and Christine Elliott, former Ontario deputy premier. Today, it comes to stand as a beacon of inclusion and a model for communities across Canada.
Collaboration on the Course
During the tournament, JD Development Group joined Meridian's real estate financing team on the course, underscoring the importance of partnership between business and community institutions. By working together, the two organizations reflected a shared belief that long-term growth must extend beyond buildings and investments–it must also include initiatives that improve quality of life for the people who live in those communities.
