What is a Pre-Delivery inspection (pdi) and why it matters
your first step toward move-in day, guided by JD Development group's customer care team
(Read Time 4 - 5 minutes)
At JD Development Group, we know that moving into a brand-new home is one of life's most exciting milestones. Before you receive your keys, there's an important step designed to give you peace of mind and prepare you for move-in: the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI).
A PDI is much more than a walkthrough – it's your opportunity to get to know your new home, review its features and finishes, while ensuring everything meets the high standards set out in your purchase agreement. It's also the first chance to experience the home you'll soon call your own.
JD Customer Care: Your Guide Throughout the PDI Process
The PDI process begins well before you step into your home. Our Customer Care Team coordinates scheduling, ensures your inspection time fits your calendar, and prepares all necessary documentation and materials. They act as your personal point of contact, guiding you through the process from start to finish.
During the PDI, Customer Care Team members:
- Walk homeowners through each room, highlighting features, finishes, and systems
- Explain how to operate key home systems, including heating, ventilation, plumbing, and appliances
- Record any items that may require attention or correction before closing
- Answer questions and provide practical tips for ongoing maintenance
By the end of the session, homeowners leave with a clear understanding of their home, as well as confidence that any concerns have been documented and will be addressed promptly.

What Happens During a PDI?
A PDI is conducted once your home is substantially complete but before you take possession. During the inspection, homeowners can:
- Review all finishes, fixtures, and features in each room
- Test major systems and appliances
- Learn how to operate items such as heating, cooling, plumbing, and ventilation
- Ask questions and note anything for follow-up before closing
Our goal is to ensure that the home is delivered exactly as promised, and that you feel confident, informed, and prepared for move-in day.

Why the PDI Matters
The PDI serves multiple purposes:
- A learning experience - It's your chance to understand how to operate and maintain your home.
- Documentation of items - Any deficiencies, damages, or missing items noted during the inspection are officially recorded and addressed before closing.
- Direct access to experts - Our Customer Care Team is there to provide guidance, answer questions, and explain next steps
By participating in the PDI, homeowners can approach move-in day with confidence, clarity, and peace of mind.

Your Role as a Homeowner
While JD's Customer Care Team leads the process, your engagement is essential. We encourage homeowners to:
- Take their time reviewing the home carefully
- Ask questions about operation, maintenance, or warranties
- Make notes about anything they'd like clarified or demonstrated again
A PDI is an opportunity to fully familiarize yourself with your home before moving in – a step that ensures a smoother and more enjoyable transition.
Our Commitment
At JD Development Group, we view the PDI as more than a contractual requirement – it's part of our commitment to quality, transparency, and customer care. From scheduling your inspection to guiding you through every detail of your home, our Customer Care Team ensures that every step is clear, organized, and supportive.
By the end of your PDI, our goal is simple: for you to feel confident, informed, and excited about the home you're about to call your own.
